Senior Product Designer

About OpenLoop

When our CEO and Co-Founder was a kid, he thought his dad must be the best doctor in the world. Why else were people driving from all over for their appointments? When he got older, he realized that, while his dad was a great doctor, he was also one of the only specialists available in his rural community.
That’s why we built OpenLoop. We’re passionate about powering telehealth companies in all 50 states to expand access to affordable, convenient, and quality care. We do this by connecting our network of leading clinicians with innovative digital health companies, and managing many of the HR and Operations challenges that come with licensing, credentialing, insurance, PC groups and scheduling -- all through our SaaS platform.

As one of our founding UX/UI teammates, you will work closely alongside our Director of Product, Communication Designer and CTO on cross-departmental projects.

You’ll really shine in this role if you:

  • Have a Startup Mindset: Don’t worry-- we don’t mean “things are chaotic here and you’ll be expected to make miracles happen with no support while you work on a Saturday night” (quite the contrary, actually!). What we’re looking for is comfort with dreaming something up from 0 to 1, while knowing how to guide research and validation of ideas.

  • Can Pivot Quickly: You know when to advocate for moving forward with a decision based on time constraints or when to adapt a design that might be too complex or expensive to build given new information or priorities. You can anticipate obstacles and effectively communicate and manage risks alongside product managers and other team members.

  • Are a Walking Swipe-File of UX/UI Ideas: You are well-versed in UX/UI fundamentals and always have ideas up your sleeve for how to solve problems in multiple ways. You stay up-to-date on the industry and are always cataloging fantastic UX and UI examples (including your own!)

  • Apply UX Fundamentals to How You Communicate: As a UX enthusiast, you’re always thinking about how you communicate with your teammates and how to keep stakeholders in the loop in efficient and clear ways.

  • Feel Comfortable Contributing at Every Stage of the Design Process: We don’t expect you to be an expert in everything, but we do need someone who is comfortable leading or collaborating on projects like our design system, component library, UX research, breadboarding, and building lo- and hi-fidelity designs.

Some or all of the following:

  • 4 years of experience in a UX/UI design role
  • Healthcare or other equivalent SaaS experience
  • Knowledge of industry best practices on human-computer interaction design
  • Experience working with an early stage startup

Our Company Culture

We have a relatively flat organizational structure here at OpenLoop. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make things happen. This fits in well with our core values of Autonomy, Competence and Belonging, as we want everyone to feel empowered and supported to do their best work.
We’re based out of Des Moines, Iowa, but we’ve got teammates spread across the US in many departments. Day to day, we collaborate most frequently using Slack, Notion, Linear, Figma, FullStory, and Zoom.

Our Benefits

In addition to competitive salaries and equity, this role includes:
  • Unlimited PTO -- We believe in taking time off (and actually do it).
  • Medical, Dental and Vision -- Because you, too, deserve access to great healthcare.
  • Flexible Schedule and Work Policy
  • Team Meet-ups and On-Site Visits -- We love our team building in Des Moines!
  • And the chance to change the future of medicine
Sound like a good fit? We’d love to meet you.
