About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Director of Data Analytics & Governance to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution for OpenLoop's data infrastructure, analytics capabilities, and governance frameworks across our telehealth platform.

This role is accountable for transforming data into actionable insights—from warehouse architecture through self-service BI to regulatory compliance. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, working cross-functionally with engineering, product, clinical operations, and business leadership to deliver analytics that drive program performance, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.

This is a fully remote, mission-driven role for a leader who blends the scrappiness of a startup with the scalability focus of an enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and performance (OKRs) of data & analytics infrastructure. Ensure successful delivery of data warehouse, BI platforms, and governance frameworks that scale from 4 programs to dozens.
  • Drive self-service analytics adoption to reduce dependency on data teams for routine reporting. Enable programs, operations, and clinical teams to answer their own questions through dashboards and BI tools.
  • Work across engineering, product, clinical, operations, and finance to align priorities, define data contracts, and ensure analytics support business objectives and program launches.
  • Lead annual and quarterly planning, OKR development, and technology selection for data warehouse platforms (Snowflake vs. AWS), BI tools (Looker vs. Tableau), and modern data stack architecture.
  • Engage directly with program leads, domain directors, and executive leadership to understand analytics needs and translate them into data product roadmaps.
  • Define and track KPIs, analyze data quality and pipeline performance, and iterate quickly to drive measurable improvements in analytics reliability and adoption.
  • Build, manage, and coach a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and analysts, growing their skills and scaling the function as the company expands.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years in data/analytics (5+ in leadership), success in both healthtech and building data teams from scratch is preferred. Track record of launching data warehouses, BI platforms, and driving measurable adoption.
  • Proven ability to operate with scrappiness and speed, while building scalable data systems and governance processes for long-term growth.
  • Healthcare data expertise including FHIR, HIPAA requirements. Experience navigating regulatory audits and compliance frameworks in telehealth, EHR, or healthcare SaaS.
  • Skilled at aligning diverse stakeholders, including engineering, product, clinical operations, finance, and executive leadership. Executive presence and ability to present to boards/investors.
  • Strong technical foundation with expert SQL, dimensional modeling, and modern data stack architecture. Comfortable engaging in technical discussions while delegating implementation.
  • Experience building and mentoring data teams, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and growth. Track record scaling teams from 2-3 to 10+ people.
  • Passion for transforming healthcare outcomes through data and enabling data-driven decision-making across clinical programs.

In addition, for salaried positions you would also be eligible for:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
