About the Role
OpenLoop is looking for
a Front-End Engineer & Designer to join our team remotely
or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for
working at the intersection of code and creativity — designing intuitive
interfaces and building them into production-ready healthcare
technology.
This position will also live at the intersection of OpenLoop’s Conversion
Rate Optimization (CRO) initiatives focusing on our continuous onboarding
optimization efforts. You’ll play a critical role in shaping and refining the
digital experiences that guide providers, clients, and patients through their
first interactions with our platform. From designing and testing funnels to
deploying highly usable, conversion-friendly workflows, your work will directly
influence how quickly and effectively new users are onboarded and
engaged.
As part of a growing health tech startup, you’ll collaborate with
clinicians, engineers, and product managers to ensure that every touchpoint —
from sign-up to system navigation — is seamless, accessible, and impactful,
setting the standard for onboarding experiences in the digital healthcare
space.
What You'll
Do
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma (or
similar tools).
- Define and maintain a scalable design system that
ensures brand and product consistency.
- Conduct usability testing and
iterate based on feedback from clinicians, patients, and internal
stakeholders.
- Implement responsive, performant, and accessible UIs
using React (Next.js or similar frameworks).
- Integrate with APIs and
back-end services to deliver end-to-end features.
- Optimize front-end performance and ensure cross-browser/device
compatibility.
- Work with modern front-end funnel and form-building
tools to design, test, and optimize user flows that maximize conversion
rates.
- Partner with product managers, clinicians, and
engineers to translate requirements into user-friendly solutions.
- Advocate for the user while balancing business needs and technical
constraints.
- Contribute to a culture of rapid prototyping, feedback,
and iteration.
- Other duties assigned.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, HCI, or related field (or
equivalent practical experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in
front-end engineering and/or product design (startup or SaaS experience is a
plus).
- Strong portfolio showcasing both design and
implementation of web applications.
- Proficiency with design tools
(Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar).
- Skilled in HTML, CSS,
JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience in React/Next.js.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and mobile-first design
principles.
- Understanding of HIPAA/security considerations in
healthcare applications.
- Hungry to learn, grow, and make an impact
at a fast-moving health tech startup.
- Experience with healthcare or
telehealth products.
- Familiarity with funnel and form-building
tools (e.g., Formsort, Jotform, Embeddables).
- Experience with Tailwind, Material UI, or Storybook.
- Comfort with rapid prototyping and experimentation (A/B testing,
usability studies).
